Hi my name is Lisa Osburn.

I've been married to a wonderful man from Michigan since 1992.  I'm originally from the Kansas city, Missouri area.  We have 3 children who are wonderful hard working adults.  Our daughters both work in the Nursing field and our son serves in the Military.  Proud mama of them all.

For 15+ years I was a Finish Carpentry remodeling homes, before HGTV aired women carpenters and home remodel shows.  During that time women were looked down upon in the carpentry field.  I smiled and replied often at the lumber yard, "yes sir I know, this is what I'm working on, not my husband."  But I loved creating and building.  Taking the clients idea, design and bring to life an outcome that exceeded their expectations;  Taking pride in my work while proving I belonged in carpentry.  During this same time period I worked part-time as the director of Religious Education classes for our Catholic Parishes and Volunteered as our Catholic Youth Minister.   I Developed and led Teens making A Difference (TMAD) Youth Ministry Outreach Program for 8 years.  With our mission focus on community outreach.   I enjoyed teaching the kids my carpentry skills and working along side them on projects helping make a difference for families and business.

A freak winter accident down icy stairs changed my life, leaving behind permanent damage in my spine and hips.  No longer able to work in Construction, I decided to head back to college at 40yrs. old and focused on pursuing a Fine Arts degree.   Now I  am an Artist with a BFA degree in Studio Art and Painting.  I work seasonal as a School/Sports Photographer and part-time Studio Artist.  I say part-time but I find enjoyment spending long hours at night painting in my studio.  My artwork is based out of my home studio in Sedalia, Missouri.   Most of my paintings explore color and texture, inspired from my sensory sensations spending time in Nature.

Spending time in nature sooths my soul and inspires my work.  Now I understand why I spent most of my childhood barefoot while playing outdoors.  I enjoy getting lost in the moment while exploring outdoors.  Taking time to notice details and surrounding sensations.  My favorite outdoor activities are kayaking, hiking, camping, fishing, gardening, sketching, setting up my easel for some plein air painting and photography.  I've only been skydiving once but I'd go again in a heartbeat.   It was a breathtaking view from above.  There is nothing like a 60 second free fall from 11,000 feet to jump start your heart again.

Paul Cezanne once said "Painting from nature is not copying the object, its realizing one's sensations."

My medium of choice is Acrylic paint on wood panels.  I use a wide variety of masonry tools, pottery tools and brushes,  for a wider range of controlled and spontaneous mark making.   Each abstract and landscape painting is a journey being caught-up in the moment.  Quieting distractions and to-do-lists allowing myself to explore and wander through Moments of expressive and spontaneous mark making.  Exploring how movements compete and collaborate with controlled fine brush strokes.
